Percussion and Drum Lessons in Fort Bend

Fort Bend Music Center offers drum instruction in two formats: private drum lessons and buddy drum lessons (Semi-private). Drum instruction may begin as early as 7 years old.

The study of drum is enhanced when the student has at least one year of piano lessons. We recommend that students younger than 7 take the Yamaha Music Education course before taking drum lessons.

Band Classes

With their teacher’s agreement, students may also participate in a Band. The bands give quarterly concerts for friends and relatives in our new “Rock House” performing and teaching facility. Band classes are 50 minutes long.

Buddy Drum Lessons

For Beginning and Intermediate students, we recommend semi-private classes. The semi-private classes are two students of the same age group with the same level of music experience. These classes are 30 minutes long.

Beginning study for students will focus first on learning the rudiments of drum technique and reading. The student will learn rhythm, reading, hand positions, and basic rock/hip hop beats. Intermediate and advanced students will study advanced music theory as well as learning syncopated rhythms using the full drum and cymbal arrangement.
