History and Mission

Our Story

Rick Cochran started his career in the music industry in 1983 at the age of 23 when he helped start up Blue Streak Transport, a piano moving service that provided delivery for all the piano dealers in the Houston area. In 1995, Rick and his partners purchased an existing local company, Complete Piano Service, adding piano tuning and repairs to their business.

In 2004, Fort Bend Music Center was opened in Stafford as a teaching studio. It grew rapidly, with over 500 students attending weekly lessons by the second year of operations. Since then, Rick has overseen the expansion of Fort Bend Music Center to become Houston’s authorized Yamaha piano dealer with two locations in the Houston area and one in San Antonio. Within the past few years, we have also become one of the area’s main sources for band and orchestra instrument rentals and repairs.

If your current piano needs some tender loving care, we offer comprehensive repair and restoration services. We can even install a player system for your piano, allowing it to play beautiful music all by itself.

Over the years, we’ve become one of the top sources for renting school band and orchestra instruments in the greater Houston area. We are proud of our wide selection of affordable, high-quality instruments that fit any budget, making sure music is accessible to everyone. Our strong relationships with local school music directors show how much we support our local music education community. We provide repairs and service for band and orchestra instruments both in-store and directly in many schools so that our customers always have their instruments in top-notch condition.
